To all NCOs 08/09,

1. SSGT Promotion Test

With regards to the upcoming Staff Sergeant Promotion Test for all of you, the date that is set for the promotion test have yet to be fixed but it will most probably be conducted on a friday as some of you raised up the issue that you are not able to attend the test if its conducted on a saturday. Thus, the date of the test is still under discussion and it will most probably be on the 2nd week of April. The finalised date will be made known to you once it has been decided. And at the same time, the following would be a rough guide on the upcoming Staff Sergeant Promotion Test, but do take note that the format for the test being conducted will not be exactly the same as stated in this rough guide.

Staff Sergeant
Attendance – 15%
Normal performance – 30%
Drill – 15%
Practical Session 1 – 10%
Practical Session 2 – 10%
Theory Test – 20%

Rough Guide on what will be tested:
Drills:
Attention, Stand at Ease, Dressing, Pledge Taking, Turning & Inclining, Sizing, Saluting, Pacing, Open & Close Order, Marching, Mark Time, Wheeling, Changing Steps, Saluting on the March, Eyes Right, Baton Drills, Arms Drills, Advanced Drills, All other Drills

Campcraft:
Thumb Knot, Figure-of-Eight, Reef Knot, Fisherman's Knot, Sheepshank, Bow Fireman's Chair, Clove Hitch, Round Lashing, Square Lashing, Gyn Lashing, Shear Lashing, Diagonal Lashing, Five Knots in one minute, Orienteering, Pioneering

Therefore, do refer to the rough guide above on the promotion format of the Staff Sergeant Test and prepare yourself accordingly in preparation for the upcoming Staff Sergeant test. Although its a rough guide and the actual promotion format will not be exactly the same as stated above, do make use of the guide to prepare yourself as it would be a good reference and at the same time, if you do follow the guide above, you should be able to pass the promotion test.

2. NCO Farewell

With regards to the NCO Farewell 2009, your passing out day, we do know that all of you are excited about it. No matter its regarding the preparation of the cadets or the preparation of the event itself. Thus, for your information, the preparation dates for the cadets are as follows:

March: 30th
April: 2nd, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, 29th

can i know when are we meeting up for our rehearsal for our pop performance?
and can i ask when are we meeting up for the parade sequence?
choosing of pc, rsm, flag bearer etc..
